Open-type leakage current transformers not only need attention during installation, but also during operation. The secondary side of the open-type leakage CT current transformer must not be open-circuited during operation. Once the secondary side is open-circuited, it will burn due to excessive iron loss and high temperature, or the secondary winding voltage will rise and insulations will break down, posing a danger of high-voltage electric shock. Therefore, when changing instruments such as current meters, active power meters, and reactive power meters, the current loop should be short-circuited before the measuring instruments are changed. After the meter is adjusted properly, connect it to the secondary loop first, then remove the short-circuit wire and check if the meter is normal.
If sparks are found when removing the short-circuit wire, the open-type leakage CT current transformer has been open-circuited, and it should be immediately re-short-circuited. Only after confirming that there is no open circuit phenomenon in the measuring instrument loop, can the short-circuit wire be removed again.
When removing the short-circuit wire of the open-type leakage current transformers, stand on an insulated mat. Also, consider disabling the protection device for the open-type leakage current transformers circuit and only enable it after the work is completed.
If there is a humming sound in the open-type leakage current transformers, check if the internal iron core is loose, and tighten the iron core bolts if necessary.
The one end of the secondary side of the open-type leakage current transformers and the enclosure must be reliably grounded.
When the insulation resistance of the open-type leakage CT current transformer secondary coil is lower than 10-20 megohms, drying treatment must be carried out to restore the insulation before it can be used.
